This year we had three kids eligible to participate in National Honor Society, Joey, Jarom, and Jordyn. Jordyn had participated in National Junior Honor Society last year and was able to participate in several activities and outings.
This year was Joey and Jarom's first opportunity to apply and about two weeks ago both boys found out whether or not they were accepted. Joey was, Jarom was not. While I am somewhat disappointed in Jarom for not being accepted it was his own doing or lack of, that caused his denial. In order to be considered as a candidate you must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5, which we believed Jarom had a 3.6, unfortunately his was 3.408. He knew this prior but he and his dad believed that his last year report card stated he had an overall GPA of 3.68, but they did not clear this discrepancy prior to NHS's decision. Well there is always next year for Jarom.
