First day of NUAMES

Jarom had his first day at NUAMES today which is located on Weber State Universities campus.

The Northern Utah Academy for Math Engineering and Science (NUAMES) is a grades ten through twelve public charter high school that specializes in preparing high school students for an early transition into a university baccalaureate program in fields related to math, engineering or science.  NUAMES is a member of the national Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Early College High School Organization.

In order for Jarom to get to school he either needs to find a ride to and from Weber State or ride the high school bus to Syracuse High School (where he would have gone to high school) and then catch public transport which stops at the college.  And to get home he is supposed to do the reverse.  Luckily he has a friend who is one year ahead of him in school who is allowed to drive to campus and has offered to let Jarom ride with him.  Today he was able to ride to school with him, however his friend had some things to do after class so Jarom got on the bus and headed to the high school to catch the high school bus back home.  Unfortunately, the timing didn't work out as it was supposed to.  By the time he arrived at the high school, every one bus was already gone for the day.  Thankfully, his step-grandmother was able to pick him up and take him home.

Although he is on Weber States campus since this is his first year the majority of his classes are held in one location.  He will take 8 classes a term and his schedule rotates every other day so some weeks he will have classes Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and the next week those classes will he held on Tuesday and Thursday.  Today he had Health, Biology, Seminary, and Engineering and tomorrow he has World Civilization, English, Algebra II and Gym.

I am so proud of my little munchkin, OK so he isn't so little any more!
